terracinque: (bridesmaid revisited)

I've decided that crackers are not food. A Triscuit, a Ritz, a Wheat Thin: none of these are food.

Rather, they are systems: systems for delivering dip into one's mouth.

Who among us has ever been to a party and thought, "I'd really enjoy a Cheese Nip right now?" None of us, that's who!

Instead it's cheese dip we want. Or a cheese cube. Or French onion dip, or salsa, or guacamole, or hummus. The cracker is just the delivery method. The system, in other words.

Drat. I just realized I don't have any systems at home.

bah. call them what you will. I love systems. I can eat plain triscuits all day long if they're salty enough.

I feel that carrots and celery are systems. Especially if it's a good french onion dip

Yes, by the same token, carrot sticks, celery stalks and broccoli, uh, trees, are not vegetables but systems.

I'm working on a hypothesis that Bugles are conical systems, but there are still a few bugs to be worked out. Science is not a speedy process.

Delivery Systems

And of course, the only reason for celery to exist is so we have a way to get the peanut butter from the jar to our mouth without using our fingers.
